The biggest compromise made when purchasing this home was only getting one bathroom. While the intention is to finish the attic and add a master suite, it was important to make the only bathroom as nice as possible. The bathroom was serviceable, yet basic. Below is a quick shot of the bathroom before renovations started.

You’ll notice the old, worn out tiles and generic shower/tub insert. The goal for the bathroom renovation was to create a spa-like retreat with modern features that looks like it could have been installed back in 1930. All work for the bathroom was completed by John Boyer at Boyer Renovations. The below photo is the bathroom demo’d.

Next, waterproofing and a shower insert are installed.
The “retro” look was used for the shower. White Subway tile and a marble mosaic helps give the bathroom a design that looks like it could’ve been installed when the house was built.
A rainfall showerhead with body jets was installed. The showerhead is a Pulse product that can be purchased at Lowe’s.
A frameless glass shower door was installed to highlight the incredible tile work.

A basket weave tile was selected for the floor. The vanity and light fixture were also replaced with elements that went with the overall bathroom design. There were some interesting pieces in the original bathroom like the faucet and mirror that were kept.
The final product is a bathroom that is beautiful and relaxing. All creature comforts you’d expect to find in a high-end new build are in the bathroom with a design befitting of a home built in 1930.
